Thanksgiving Eve: The Night Everybody’s Back in Town

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the biggest bar night of the year. Not New Year’s. Not St. Patrick’s Day. That Wednesday.

Bars across the country roughly double their business compared to a normal Wednesday. And the reason is simple: everybody’s home. The people you went to high school with, the ones who moved to Philly or Charlotte or wherever, they’re all back at their parents’ house with nothing to do until Thursday.

So everyone goes out. It’s the one night a year the whole class is in the same zip code.

Why a lounge beats a packed bar for this

Here’s the thing about Thanksgiving Eve: the whole point is seeing people you haven’t seen in a year. And most places that night are so loud and so crowded that you can’t actually talk to anybody.

You end up shouting over music for three hours and leaving without having had a real conversation with anyone.

That’s what we’re good at. Leather chairs you can actually sit in. A room where you can hear the person across from you. A full bar, a walk-in humidor, and a drink that takes more than four seconds to make.

If your group wants to catch up instead of just be in a crowd, this is the spot.

Bring the crew

Thanksgiving Eve is a group night by nature. A few things worth knowing:

Come a little early. It gets busy, same as everywhere. Earlier means better seats.

Nobody has to smoke. It’s a full bar. Half the people who come in with a group aren’t having a cigar, and that’s fine.

Have a ride sorted. It’s the busiest night of the year on the roads too, and it’s a long weekend. Figure that out before you come out, not after.

Then come back Friday

A lot of people forget that Thanksgiving weekend is four days. Friday and Saturday night, the out-of-town crowd is still around and everybody’s sick of leftovers. We’ll be open.
